I stayed here for 2 nights in February, since it was just a short break away, I didn't want to spend too much on a hotel so chose to stay in a hostel as I was out most of the day and just needed somewhere to sleep. I didn't have any luggage to store and only had my backpack so I was out exploring before checking in. Location was quite good and close to Milan Centrale and nearest metro station was Lima or Porta Venezia which can be easily walkable to either. From Lima station, it takes you outside on the busy main road with plenty of shops and streetlights so I felt quite safe walking here at night, then the hostel is located on one of the side roads. If you are arriving in the evening, you will see a bright blue backlight, reception is actually hidden inside the entrance pathway. At check in, they give you a small piece of paper with all the information to get into your cabin. When I entered into my hostel cabin, I initially wanted a bottom cabin to make it easier to get in and out but they didn't have any left so I had the top cabin. The receptionist told me it would be possible to move me to a bottom cabin the next day but I didn't want to hassle to move all my things and since I was only staying for 2 nights, I can cope with being on the top cabin. All the cabins are the same anyway. There was about 6 cabins in the room. Was nice, clean and quiet. When I went into the bathroom, I noticed that there was only 1 shower and 1 toilet. I did worry a bit because that meant the bathroom facilities will be shared with 6 people and if everyone will be waiting to use it. While staying there, I found it quiet and the bathroom was available to use most of the time, except in the mornings, may have to wait until available but that wasn't an issue to wait a bit until it became vacant. Inside the cabin was nice and clean, there was a locker. I did lock myself out the locker trying to set the code lol but I told reception and they kindly reset it for me. I noticed there was a screen inside the cabin. I thought it might be a tv so began to look around to see if can turn it on. when I was at the reception, I asked if the screen was a tv, but they said it was just an old feature for social media scrolling. Wifi was working in the cabin. There was also a small side desk next to the bed. I did find the cabin quite small and just about fit my rucksack, coat and shoes so this might be good for short stays or with minimal luggage. There are some bigger lockers outside the cabin which are first come first served. The only issue I had was that the water in the shower on the first night began to get a bit cold but they fixed it and had hot water on the second night. Breakfast was included which consisted of continental breakfast. On arrival, they give you a blue chip to redeem on a free drink of your choice which was nice. I chose to use mine on a cappuccino for the morning. Overall, a nice hostel with private cabins with walls for privacy if you prefer that to open plan bed type hostels. Good location with easy access to the attractions of Milan. If you need somewhere cheap to stay, this could be good for you.

To stay at Ostelzzz Milano was my worst experience in any hostels around the world. I humbly expected a shower with heat water and proper sleeping for the night. The Ostelzzz Milano failed guests totally in both aspects. Their heat water in the bath room always last only for around 3 minutes then cool down to cold water. If you could turn it off and wait for another 5 minutes, maybe you get warm water again…. During the night of November, Milan’s temperature is normally below 10 degrees Celsius. For bedding, their mattresses depressed seriously with obvious curve around the lower-back spine and buttock area; it seems the same mattress have been overused for decades or they might collect those mattresses from garbage grounds? I stayed for four nights in November 2023, on the first night of 1st of Nov. , I informed a male employee at the front desk about the intermittent heat water, he said they will check…; afterwards I doubt if he was honest or serious for his reply; as the heat water problems never improved at all. Then I asked to change bed with more normal mattress, the same male employee became annoyed and rebuked my request by saying all of their mattresses are the same, unfortunately he was honest in this aspect, as when I was finally allowed to change to another bed from a front desk lady on the 2nd night, the mattress was almost with the same problem. Unless you don’t care the major two problems as I experienced; my sincere suggestion is try to avoid this hostel.

Staff are very nice and helpful, from heck in to check out, they were very helpful. Free breakfast was also good enough to start the day. Room is clean, toilet can sometimes be a bit smelly. Would be nice if there's another bath&toilet in every floor. Nonetheless, my stay was lovely. The capsule is enclosed, hence you really get the privacy. There is an air conditioning too so it's fine even on summer. Place is very near the metro station, 10-15min walk to central train station, 20 mins walk to Duomo. There are nearby grocery stores and restaurants.

The privacy of the pods was nice, however please be aware when travelling in summer that there is absolutely no air conditioning. The pods heat up and there is no way to cool down, this meant I had two pretty much sleepless nights. It was so hot that my iPhone had reached too high temperatures and the notification popped up. It’s a hot metal box that you are sleeping in - so probably better to stay there in winter.

We had stayed in a City Hub Hostel which are pods thinking it would be similar. How wrong were we. City Hub had clean, fantastic facilities, thick walls of the pod and modern. Ostelzzz is trying to create this idea of a “social media place” when they haven’t got the basic rights. The communal area was old, cheap & wasn’t a relaxing/social area. The pods were made of cheap metal like we were in a tin can. This meant every time someone moved, it was loud. People arrived at 11pm in our area and we could hear every word as no respect but also the banging of the metal was extremely loud. If you have a pod for two, there is no room for your bags. (Maybe a big locker outside the pod would be helpful?) There is a screen that didn’t do anything. And a noisy roof that people decided to play with at midnight-the view when you move the blind is the ceiling. The bathroom on our floor didn’t have a door handle so I had a shower with the shower door closed but bathroom door wide open. The shower cubical itself had black mould & only one toilet & shower per floor. The staff were friendly & breakfast was good. But there’s sooo much that needs cleaning, sorting about this hostel. Even starting with repainting all the chopped walls. First impressions count.
